For 53 years, Aventa Addiction Treatment for Women has been offering alcohol, drug, gambling and nicotine addiction treatment for women.
Aventa offers a trauma-informed curriculum specifically designed for women with addictions, the treatment program has been researched and written by Dr. Stephanie Covington, a nationally recognized clinician, author and lecturer. Our treatment programs place an emphasis on providing an environment that is safe, supportive, and establishes a clear recovery process for women.
One of Aventa’s priorities is working with pregnant women; pregnant women are admitted without delay which helps decrease the risks associated with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD).
Aventa is Accredited with Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada.

Aventa currently provides practicum opportunities via the following post secondary programs: University of Calgary Social Work Program, University of Lethbridge Addictions Studies and Reeves College Addictions Studies. Practicum placements are coordinated between Aventa and these programs directly; students should not contact Aventa. We do not have additional practicum opportunities outside of these partnerships.
